About the fund

The North Africa region is still recovering from the impact of the Arab Spring: private investors continue to be reluctant to invest. North Africa’s economies have not grown fast enough to create sufficient jobs, and whilst governments can provide an enabling environment, the largest motor of job creation is the private sector, specifically SMEs and mid-market enterprises. SIFEM’s investment of EUR 10 million in MPEF IV contributes to expanding the private sector and generating employment, a key element to contain social tensions, political unrest, and migration pressure.
