Target companies will demonstrate high enabling technology that addresses current challenges for Indian consumers in the rural and semi urban markets.
- Financial technology (“Fintech”): Technology based solutions that provide or facilitate access to financial services primarily to India’s large unbanked population. Opportunities include online credit platforms, non-cash payment technologies and government driven transaction initiatives, amongst others.
- Enterprise Applications: India has a large number of SMEs and micro-enterprises that do not have integrated modern IT in their value chains. By applying smart enterprise applications, these companies could improve the efficiency of their supply chain.
- Mobile Internet: Over 70% of Indians who access the internet do so via their mobile phone. This offers vast opportunities for mobile OS based applications catering to the needs of rural and semi urban Indian consumers and businesses.
- Consumer Internet: Digital commerce brings economies of scale and quality to both, urban and rural consumers and is expected to grow substantially in the coming years.
The Fund will be managed by VenturEast Partners, a seasoned PE group that has raised 5 other PE funds in the technology, life sciences and micro equity space since 1997.
